Much like a Neighborhood Watch program, registering your home/business security cameras with your local police department helps residents get involved in fighting crime.
The information obtained from registered cameras is not made public and cannot be accessed remotely. Just because someone registers their camera, doesn’t mean the police can access the live feed. Basically, it lets the police know who in the area has a security camera and where it’s located without having to go door to door. As we still will go door to door this can be a quicker tool and allow more detail to the crime for the Officers.
The idea behind these programs is that the police can’t be everywhere at once, and if resources are available in the community that can help solve crimes, why not make use of them?
If you would like to register your security camera system with the Rock Hill Police Department and allow officers to contact you should a crime occur within the immediate area of your camera system, it’s easy. Simply fill out the form below and hit submit.
